Improvised Basketball Court

A lot of Filipinos love the sport Basketball. Usually, you can see improvised basketball courts along the streets and at the backyards. One good example is the picture above - I found this improvised basketball board and ring attached to a tree at the back of my brother's apartment. It may not be as good as those in basketball courts and gyms, but the most important thing is people here (especially kids) get the chance to play, bond with each other, appreciate and master the game basketball.

Ruby Tuesday: Bubbly Me!

This picture was taken at my area / cubicle when I was with WeLC as a Teacher and Supervisor. I love this picture; I just love lots of colors around me, they make me feel so lively and cheerful – that go along with my bubbly personality. If you notice the collage of my pictures at my back, I made it and look at it whenever I feel so stressed at work - it makes me feel so light. wink!

Have a bubbly Ruby Tuesday everyone! Cheers! =)

Yummy Sunday: Cupcakes

This picture was taken last New Year’s Eve – in our Media Noche celebration. These cupcakes were ordinary ones that you can buy in any supermarkets; I just bought candies of different shapes and colors to bring more life. As what they say, that you should prepare and eat sweets and colorful foods (in round shapes) on New Year’s Eve to welcome the year with positivity and to have bountiful year ahead.

Have a great week everyone! cheers! =)

Romantic Quotes/Sayings: 01

I wish love is like a volleyball, you shout "mine" and everyone backs off.

Can Love be Based on IQ and EQ?

A lot of people think that high IQ and EQ are impossible to combine in order to have good and steady romantic relationships; they say, it should be high IQ and low EQ or the other way around to make the relationship work and last.

In my own point of views, love doesn’t have patterns, procedures or formulas to follow; it doesn’t have race, religion and age. When the right person and time come - with sparks and chemistry, then go for it!

Each one of us was born with a soul mate - who’ll make our lives complete and more meaningful. Love and relationship shouldn’t be based on how high your IQ is or how many relationships you’ve had that make your EQ high; Love should be unconditional - accepting and loving the uniqueness, shortcomings, weaknesses and imperfections of your mate perfectly.

Love Bears: Cute Bridal Car Decorations

One of my close friends (Maics) just got married to her long-time boyfriend (John) last May 14 - on her birthday as well. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the said wedding ceremony because I'm out of the city. Despite of it, I was a witness on how they prepared for the wedding.

It was their special day, so they wanted their day to be unique and memorable. Instead of the usual flower decorations for the bridal car, they had 2 love bears dressed as groom and bride in front of their bridal car. I find them so cute, aren't they? =)

Tongue Twisters Give Power!

Why are there Tongue Twisters? This question may pop out from your mind whenever you encounter some.

When I was still a student, I’ve had lots of tongue twisters in my English classes; at first, I didn’t know their importance, because I was annoyed of reading words that rhyme and don’t even understand their meanings.

When I started teaching piano, voice and (especially) English, it was then I realized the importance of Tongue Twisters and how they can polish areas - specifically pronunciation.

Here are some reasons why Tongue Twisters are helpful:

1.Your concentration will be practiced and improved.
2.You understand what the tongue twisters tell you; they have meanings and stories to
tell.
3.You get to polish and master the sounds of each letter or combined letters.
4.You get to remember and the sounds in your mind because of the rhymed words.
5.You familiarize where to put stress in each word.
6.You’ll know the importance of punctuation marks, as they also play a big part in
English.
7.You differentiate letters and words that sound alike, but totally different to each
other.
8.To test and speed up your quickness in thinking and speaking.

Although some tongue twisters are grammatically incorrect, but their main objective is to practice and remember the sounds. Still, we follow the rules in Part of Speech and in English as a whole.

So, let’s practice! I attached some Tongue Twisters below:
- When a doctor falls ill another doctor doctor's the doctor. Does the doctor doctoring the doctor doctor the doctor in his own way or does the doctor doctoring the doctor doctors the doctor in the doctor's way?

- I thought a thought. But the thought I thought wasn't the thought I thought I thought. If the thought I thought I thought had been the thought I thought, I wouldn't have thought so much.

- I wish to wish the wish you wish to wish, but if you wish the wish the witch wishes, I won't wish the wish you wish to wish.

Importance of Vitamin C

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a very important required nutrient for the proper functioning of our bodies. It’s vital for the formation and maintenance of connective tissue, amino acid metabolism and protection from chemicals.

Vitamin C helps several metabolism reactions; so, it’s very much important for proper digestion. It is also an important antioxidant. It helps produce protein collagen that structures bones, muscles, cartilages and blood vessels. It also helps in maintaining healthy teeth, bones and capillaries; advances the absorption of iron. It helps in maintaining healthy body tissues and a strong immune system.

To have high content of vitamin C, it’ll lead to healthy gums. It also improves vision and is extremely effective in healing wounds and burns. It also helps reducing the effects of too much sun exposure and decreases the blood sugar of diabetics.

Vitamin C also plays a big role in protecting us from heart diseases, common colds and flush, high blood pressure, cancer, asthma, diabetes and osteoarthritis.

Here are some sources of Vitamin C:
Broccoli, Strawberries, Cauliflower, Grapes, Pineapple, Lemonade, Avocados, Bananas, Onions, Tomatoes, Oranges, Carrots, Blueberries, Cabbages, mango, watermelon, winter squash, red peppers, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, kale, asparagus, green beans, cloves, basil, green peas, sweet potato, garlic, plum, pear, corn, chili pepper, guava and figs.

Most people (like me) who don't get much Vitamin C from food take Vitamin C supplement.
Vitamin C supplement contains from 250-1000 milligrams per pill.

As for me, I'm taking FERN - C. FERN C is Vitamin C in Sodium Ascorbate form. Unlike other Vitamin C supplements, FERN-C is NON- ACIDIC. Therefore, it provides all the benefits of Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C, but without the sting.

Step Up - 2 Thumbs Up!

This is one of my much-loved videos - ever! It's an excerpt from the movie Step Up - a dance themed romance movie opened last August 11, 2006. The said movie was played by a rebellious hip-hop dancer Channing Tatum as Tyler Gage paired with a trainee ballerina Jenna Dewan as Nora Clark – who became couple in real life from 2009 to present. The film earned $21 million on its opening and $114 million worldwide.

I really like the movie, especially that I'm into music and I had stage acting experiences that makes me appreciate the movie so much - even until now. The final dance in was really done perfectly; you can see and feel that Tyler and Nora loved the dance and their emotions were overflowing. No wonder they became sweethearts, not just in the movie but in real life; they look good together and share the same passion - especially in dancing.

I am a heroine!

This picture was taken last year - a day before my birthday, during the Blood-letting activity conducted by Paragon Fitness Gym at SportsZone.

The said activity promptly started at 9:00 am. It's always nice to know that Paragon Fitness Gym encourages (until at present) its clients to participate in this kind of life-saving activity.

Thanks too to Dunkin Donuts and Del Monte for providing the snacks, and Paragon also prepared lunch for blood donors - as its way of sending its deepest and sincerest thanks to the heroes who came out and supported the event.

I am just so thankful to be given the opportunity to save lives, and it was also a good birthday celebration for me - to save lives and be called "heroine". It was indeed a happy birthday for me! =)

Curl or Straight, it's Alright

My hair is naturally wavy; I’ve promised myself to rebond my hair annually to have the straight hair I’ve been longing to have. Since lately I need to tie my hair and do ponytails most of the time, so I thought of moving my rebond schedule a few months later. So, I thought of buying a hair straightener to straighten and curl my hair every now and then. I just actually bought a new one from JML Proceramic Straighteners.
I was strolling at SM Cagayan de Oro, a demo on curling hair using straightener iron caught my attention. I watched the demo until the promo lady asked me if she can do the demo on my hair. So I agreed right away since I was also planning of buying a new one. While she was doing the demo, I thought of taking some pictures. The iron itself has dual purposes - to straight and curl hair. For me, what a great way to save energy (especially when traveling) in bringing straightener and curling irons when you can have just one!

Quick Power Lunch at 7-ELEVEN

My very own quick power lunch - especially when I'm almost run out of time, and I don't want to be late to my appointments nor hungry in meetings for hours. Good thing there are 7-ELEVEN stores nearby. There’s one across our building, so I can just run across anytime I need just about anything – what a relief indeed!

Cutey Pinky!

I bought this spoon and fork container for only P20; very cute at an affordable price.

This my entry for Pink Fridays meme. Cheers everyone! =)

Krispy Kreme, you're always in my dreams!

This picture was taken at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store at Mall of Asia. I was so delighted to visit the store - especially that my city doesn't have Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Stores yet. Plus I have a sweet tooth - and definitely, the said visit satisfied my cravings!
I was more elated to see their factory inside the store - wow! It gave me an idea on how their delicious doughnuts were specially made.
